1…2…3…4…5 Months (already)

So here is a quick run down of Colt the past 5 months.

1...5 close up 1...5 months

First couple weeks

At Colt’s week 1 appointment he weighed in at 7 lbs and almost an ounce. Since he was past his birth weight we didn’t have to come in later they did his shots and such then. But the nurse said Colt is a “good bleeder”, so I guess that is a plus.

When Colt was just 9 days old I was able to get a picture of his smile for the first time. It was in the middle of the night after feeding him… and made being tired so worth it. And sure it was a goofy, “I’m-half-asleep-smile”, but nonetheless it makes my heart melt every time I look at it.

Everyone made me so worried about having a newborn. But I am happy and blessed to say that Colt is an easy baby. From the beginning he was going 3 hours in between feedings… and would sleep well at night. At night he would get up  at 1 and 3:30 and then would wake up around 6 or 7.

At this point Colt started sleeping longer in the night… usually eating around 11:30 pm, 3:30, and then 6:30. At about 2 and a half months he was going to sleep around 11:30 and wasn’t waking up until around 5 to eat.

A couple times, after I fed Colt in the morning Chase would have me bring Colt to cuddle with him before Chase had to get up to get ready for school. This turned into a cute little routine.

3 Months

I had to go back to work in April so two of my good friends, Shaila and Amanda, switched off days watching him. Shaila has 4 boys of her own and Amanda watches other kids also. Colt definitely enjoyed the company! I am thankful that I have amazing friends that were able to watch him. It made it slightly easier to go back to work. Plus they sent me lots of cute pictures and videos of him with the other kiddos. Amanda even brought him to visit me at work one day.

This is what happened when Colt was being watched by Amanda. Her daughter Jordin made Colt look beautiful.

Chase continued to study for Boards and Colt and I hung out with family and friends. I also was able to coach some tumbling camps and privates at UPA while I was there.

5 Months

Colt didn’t quite gain as much weight as they would have liked. However, he was fine in height and head circumference. So now we are having to fatten him up, which he is loving… because he loves eating. I am sure part of the problem is that he is becoming so active.

Things Colt Loved at 5 Months:

  • Running errands
  • Going on walks
  • Car rides
  • Sleeping on his belly
  • Being in his exersaucer
  • Being in his Johnny Jumper
  • Baths
  • Watching videos of himself
  • FaceTiming and Snapchat
  • Loves rolling around
  • Loves scooching
  • Cell phones
  • Baby food
  • Watching TV… He loves watching baseball games and laughs at the people screaming on the Price is Right
  • Keiko… He loves watching Keiko and always wants to grab her. Unfortunately, the turns into him pulling her fur so I can’t say its her favorite thing.

Big things that happened around 5 months:

  • Scooching… not quite crawling but he is moving around like crazy
  • First move… We moved from Lebanon to a town in Oregon called McMinnville. Chase is doing his clinical rotation here.
  • Trying to sit up… He can’t quite get it because he always loses his balance
  • Lots and lots of grabbing, screaming, moving, rolling, and of course putting everything he can in his mouth, including his feet.
  • Tried some real watermelon, apples, and bananas… and loved it all.

Here is a picture of Colt trying to eat the phone while I am taking a picture.

Hopefully I can stay on top of this a little better! So I can remember everything. Overall Colt is such a happy, easy baby. I feel so blessed to have him in my life and I have loved being a mom! I have become one of “those moms” that takes billions of pictures of her child and write all about him… and I have no shame, I love it.

  1. That is awesome documentation! I think my favorite photo is the one of Colt coming for the phone. I can’t believe he’s already preparing to crawl.
PS– if you want to make a book out of your blog and need any help with it, let me know– there are some really easy options. It’s super fun to have it on the bookshelf to refer back to, and Colt will love it when he’s older.

    • That is such a good idea! I hadn’t thought about that. You’ll have to let me know.

I know… he is already army crawling/inch worming everywhere. Its only a matter of time until he will be getting into everything! :)
